According to Richie Hawtin himself his father was a fanatic of Kraftwerk and
Tangerine Dream.
By the way, doesn't Hawtin play frequently at discos in Ibiza, near where
Huetter and Schneider live? Maybe they have recorded something together.

Another interesting collaboration would be with Richard David James (aka The
Aphex Twin).

Hawtin's Plastikman project is far more in touch technically with Kraftwerk
than perhaps anyone else. He seems very in touch with exploring the
relationship between man and machine, perhaps sometimes immersing himself
perhaps too far in technology, but also with a human touch that deals with
mental conditioning and fractured relationships. "Spastik", "Consumed" and
his recent "Closer" LP deal with this. AFAIK he is the only person that
Hutter has referenced at all in interviews in recent times.
