[KRAFTWERK] copying sound from DVD?

I just want to ask... I have a PC with a DVD-burner. 

Can I insert a DVD in there, and only record the sound, so
that I can copy it in CD-quality to a CD-R?

Like for example, I have Depeche Mode "Route 66" which is
on the "101" DVD but never released on CD (I think)... and
I could copy the Jamiroquai Verona DVD onto a CD-R to 
listen to in the car... 

If anyone can let me know, I'd appreciate it. I also am in
need of a good MP3 encoder ... anyone can e-mail me on 
matthewd AT clubleisure DOT co DOT za , as I only read this
e-mail 1x per week at work, on the sly
